Romy Phillips is a former arts admnistrator from New York City. After completing
a BFA in painting and sculpture at the Maryland Institute College of Art; and a MFA in Arts Administration, at Columbia
University, she embarked on a decade of roles for prominent arts ogranizations, namely The Museum of Modern Art and
The Guggenheim Museum. The pressures and stress of work and city life led her by chance to Los Angeles in 1999,
where in spite of her artistic pursuits, a life devoted to health took over. She walked into City Yoga one spring day
in 1999 and her life took a dramatic turn which led her on the path to becoming a yoga teacher. Now she is a
certified yoga instructor who has taught in a number of studios in the Los Angeles area since 2001.
Romy has completed the following Teacher Trainings: Anusara Yoga Level I Teacher Training
at City Yoga (Los Angeles); and Anusara Yoga Level I and Mini Therapeutics with John Friend. In addition,
Yoga Works 200 Hr. Teacher Training with Lisa Walford & Birgette Kirsten and Yoga Works Professional Program---a
300 hour program which has inspired her to take her teaching and practice to new heights.
Romy has attended numerous intensives and workshops with internationally recognized teachers
in the yoga community including: Patahbi Jois, John Friend, Chuck Miller & Maty Ezraty, Lisa Walford, Rodney Yee,
Erich Schiffman, Max Strom, Mark Stephens, Chad Hamrin, Richard Freeman, Rod Stryker & more.
